Our Wedding Photography Process
Our Methodology
We have developed a simple process designed to make getting great wedding photos as easy on you as possible. The following steps take you from start
to finish, though we can make adjustments as neccessary or if your wedding is only a few days or weeks away.
- Consultation - Once we've spoken via phone or email and you would like to sit down with us in person, we will schedule a
meeting to answer all of your questions, show you samples, and schedule your wedding if you're ready. You are free to take as much time to decide
as you like, and are under no obligation after this consultation. If you decide that we are right for you, we require a $350 deposit to hold your
wedding date, but you don't need to decide on your package selection until a few weeks before the wedding if you're not ready.
- Follow Ups - If you have any qestions between when you book and your wedding day, you can feel free to contact us via email or phone.
We'll be happy to speak with you and make sure you know exactly what to expect. We generally follow up with you once or twice before the wedding
if we don't otherwise hear from you just to make sure everything is still proceeding according to play, and to get an updated schedule for the big
day itself.
- The Wedding Day! - We will arrive at the church, or at the bride's home
if desired, at the requested time. We can spend as little or as much time as you wish taking posed shots during the day. At least 30-60 minutes
should be set aside for family and group formals at the church, usually after the ceremony. Some time during the last 30 minutes of sunlight and 20 minutes
after can be set aside for romantic photos as well. The remainder of the day we will work with a photo-journalistic approach to capture
your wedding without needless intervention. If you would like, we can ask you to stop for a quick shot at critical moments (cutting the cake,
toasting at the reception, etc), but this is optional and at your discretion. This is your special day; we believe you have the right to relax
and enjoy it, and we prefer to capture the real magic of the day.
- Proofing and Ordering - All photos are shot in RAW format, which means we need time to process them and optimize them before saving them
in a file format ready for printing. This process can take as long as twenty to fifty manhours, so we ask for 3-5 weeks before your proofs
are ready.
You will be provided with a proof CD with enough quality to email and view on your computer, but at too low a resolution for
printing. We can supply a DVD with printable high resolution files for an additional fee if you like. Photographers do this because package pricing rarely
covers all of the costs while still providing a livable wage; forcing us to rely on print sales as well. You will find that other photographers charge as
well. This works to your advantage, however, in that our income is based on how many images you feel are worth the cost, so it provides a strong incentive
for us to meet the highest quality standards.
Proofs will also be made available to you online. You can directly crop, alter, and order photos online, or pay us directly via check and give your order
over the phone. We also make the online ordering available to all guests at the wedding. This helps prevent the maelestrom
of requests the bride and groom usually get for prints while they are trying to begin their new lives together. The process is designed to be
efficient, quick, and easy, and we will be available at any time for help or guidance. The images will remain online for three months. Albums
can be tailored to your liking and we will work directly with you to make sure the design and layout is exactly what you desire.
Your digital negatives are burned to optical media and stored at two separate locations. We also have a professional off-site backup. If you wish to order
prints in the future, or need another copy of your proof or printable DVD, we will be happy to provide a backup CD or place your images back online for ordering
free of charge.
