In what style do you shoot? We prefer a photojournalistic approach to keep out of the way and capture the action from the sides. We believe that the best pictures will be the ones that capture the real emotion and real action of the day, and not something posed or staged. We do, however, take as many formal portraits as the bride and groom desire and can do a few staged shots upon request. Do we get just a photographer for the day, or an assistant too? You actually get two photographers, one working as an assistant at times if needed. Having two photographers minimizes the risks of any equipment failures that you must face with a single photographer and allows multiple styles and points of view. Do you do creative shots? Yes, we generally pick out anywhere from 10-30 pictures that we feel would look good with a creative filter. This could be application of a fresco filter, 'touch of color' postwork, or something else. We take your preferences into account. In addition, if you see anything after the wedding that you would like altered in some way we're happy to help. Provided the picture is going to be ordered we will apply any of our standard filters. You also have the ability to convert pictures to black and white or sepia during online ordering yourself. What about retouching to remove lines, pimples, etc? We have extremely powerful software for retouching faces, but it requires a fair amount of time to use. We generally pick out 10-30 photos to apply the filters to ourselves. However, if you see a photo that you would like to order and would like major retouching done first, just let us know and we'll be happy to take care of it for you. Also, as some couples prefer a completely natural approach, let us know before hand if you would prefer no retouching and we can make sure your photos receive no postwork. What kind of equipment do you use? We shoot all digital with Nikon D70s and D80s and a variety of fast lenses. Photos are shot as Raw NEF files, then post-processed and enhanced before being made available for purchase. We use a mixture of physical camera filters and digital post-processing filters. I have an 8 megapixel digital camera and it's not that good! Why use digital? A common misconception is that the number of megapixels is the most important spec when comparing digital cameras. This could not be farther from the truth. Current point and shoot cameras do not have the sensor size or lens quality to take advantage of more than about 2 or 3 megapixels in many ways. dSLRs, like those we use, have much larger CCDs, higher quality lenses, and much quicker onboard processors. We also have fantastic equipment and software for post-processing. Don't take our word for it, though, but instead just take a few moments to ask to see full resolution sample images and let us prove it to you. Professional film and digital photography are on equal footing. I'm just barely out of your service area; do I need to pay extra? Probably not. If we are able to make the trip without needing a flight or a hotel we will allow you to choose a standard package. If we need to travel we will generally charge an extra $1000 fee that will cover our flight and accomodations, and that is good for anywhere in the continental US. Southwest PA, Southeast Ohio, and Parts of West Virginia are well within our standard pricing area. We're not sure if we want a photographer in our way on such an exciting and stressful day. For a long time weddings have been treated almost as a photoshoot, with the events of the day secondary to getting good pictures. We prefer to work unobtrusively to capture your memories without getting in the way. We will work with you to get the pictures you want, but without hampering the important moments of the day. Are you professional and courteous? ...And friendly too! We like working with people, and understand how important this day is to you. We'll work hard to make sure our presence is not only as discrete as possible, but as comfortable as possible too. I'd like dressing room shots, but would be uncomfortable with a male photographer present. You will have two photographers at your wedding, one male and one female. Both are capable of working autonomously and either one will be happy to take whatever shots either of you desire. |
